A delegation from the Computer Emergency Response Center (CERT) of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCISSS) participated in “KazHackStan 2025,” one of Central Asia’s largest cybersecurity conferences, held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.The “KazHackStan” conference annually brings together cybersecurity professionals, government institutions, and business representatives from across the Central Asian region. Within the framework of the program, technical sessions and panel discussions were organized, covering a range of topics such as “Government & Business Day,” “Secure Development Day,” and “Hack Day.”
The delegation of Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCISSS) took part in the “CyberKumbez” competition, one of the major parts of the event. The competition was conducted in an attack-defense (“Red Team vs Blue Team”) format on a platform simulating a “Smart City” environment based on real-world infrastructure scenarios. During the competition, the “Blue Team” units recorded the attacks executed by the “Red Team,” monitored their progression, and documented the outcomes. Among the “Blue Team” units competing against 25 “Red Team” units, the AzCyberDefense team was awarded third place. Azerbaijan’s AzCyberDefense team achieved third place in this international challenge in its first participation, thereby demonstrating the country’s growing cybersecurity capacity and the high level of professionalism among young specialists.
