The "Regional Cybersecurity Week 2025" is taking place on 15–19 September in Rabat, the Kingdom of Morocco. The event is organized by the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC), in partnership with Morocco’s General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI), and in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), OIC-CERT, and FIRST. The event is dedicated to the theme: "Digital Sovereignty for Sustainable Economic Development."
The primary objective of the event is to strengthen regional cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, ensure the protection of critical infrastructure, and promote sustainable economic development based on the principles of digital sovereignty.
As part of the event, Tural Mammadov, Deputy Director-General of the Special Communication and Information Security State Service (SCISSS) of Azerbaijan and a member of the OIC-CERT Board of Directors, spoke at a panel discussion on “Enhancing Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity in OIC Member States through Cooperation.”
In his remarks, Mr. Mammadov provided detailed insights into the efforts undertaken by Azerbaijan to protect critical information infrastructure, the advancement of public-private partnerships, risk assessment processes, conducted audits, and best practices in mitigating cyber threats. He also highlighted the “Cyber Range” project, implemented with the support of NATO and in partnership with Romania’s National Cybersecurity Directorate (ICU), emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in ensuring information security.
Throughout the event, bilateral meetings were held with cybersecurity centers from various countries, focusing on strengthening international collaboration, sharing best practices, and discussing future initiatives.
During these meetings, detailed information was shared about the upcoming “CIDC-2025” (Critical Infrastructure Defence Challenge), organized by SCISSS and set to take place in October of this year. As a result, several countries expressed interest in participating in the “Cyberwarfare in Smart Cities” competition to learn from Azerbaijan's cybersecurity experience.
